Highlights of Algorithms 2017
Berlin, June 9-11,2017
- Starting from today 4pm (Friday, June 9) all talks that were scheduled in MA001 will take place in HE 101!
- The last Session today (Friday, June 9) will take place in lecture hall HE 101 instead of MA001. This lecture hall can be found on the ground floor of the mathematics building in the back of the building. You can also see the location of HE 101 all on this map.
- We created a "Berlin Guide" for the conference. It contains information about how to get to the conference venue, lunch options near the conference venue, etc. but also restaurant and sightseeing suggestions all over Berlin. The guide can be found here.

On Friday and Saturday there will be poster sessions at 6 pm. Due to the large number of posters to be presented, each poster can only be presented at one of the two sessions according to the following scheme:
Friday: posters where the last name of the first author starts with letter A - D
Saturday: posters where the last name of the first author starts with letter E - Z
If you would like to print your poster in Berlin, you might want to check out the copy shop www.copyprint.de close to the conference venue at Ernst-Reuter-Platz 3-5 (their webpage is in German but they do speak English there).
The 2nd Highlights of Algorithms (HALG 2017) conference is designed to be a forum for presenting the highlights of recent developments in algorithms and for discussing potential further advances in this area. The conference will provide a broad picture of the latest research in algorithms through a series of invited talks, as well as possibility for all researchers and students to present their recent results through a series of short talks and poster presentations. Attending the Highlights of Algorithms conference will also be an opportunity for networking and meeting leading researchers in algorithms.
HALG 2017 is the second conference in the series; the 1st Highlights of Algorithms (HALG 2016) conference took place in Paris, June 2016.
There will be no conference proceedings. As a result, presenting work already published at a different venue or journal (or to be submitted there) is welcome. The format of the event will reflect the character of (very successful) conferences in other fields, e.g., mathematics or physics, and also a recent Highlights of Logic, Games and Automata conference.
The conference’s mission is to promote research on algorithmic foundations and foster a community in Europe. It was initiated as part of a broader effort in this direction by the Interest Group on Algorithmic Foundations of Information Technology (IGAFIT).
